I am a recent graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, where I obtained a BA in Religion and a BS in Psychology. I am taking some time off and intend to stay in the area when I do return to school for graduate study. I am currently doing volunteer work at the crisis center and I am looking for a good family to care for to make a little money to pay bills. Therefore, I will be available to meet long-term needs as well as the current home, pet, and childcare needs.

I have years of experience as a childcare provider with children ranging from under a year to 15 years old. I have worked as needed for some families and have worked daily for others. I enjoy the fun atmospere that comes with working with children and I plan to study developmental psychology in graduate school, helping children in my career.

In previous jobs I have had to perform a variety of duties and have performed them thoroughly with efficiency, diligence, and professionalism. I am reliable, hardworking, and trustworthy. I am honest and try to instill honesty, compassion, respect and altruism in every child I have cared for. I also attempt to create an atmosphere that promotes creative thinking, cognitive development, and emotional awareness in a lighthearted and fun manner.

I love to cook and bake and am actually well known amongst family and friends as a baker and chef. I will delight in making meals and snacks for your family. I am prepared to coordinate with you on food needs: either by keeping you up to date on pantry needs before grocery shopping and organizing the list, or simply by providing a moderate list of groceries used in my time with your children each week. I have become a solid advocate of a ‘fruit first’ rule that I have come across in my time babysitting and will insist that before every sweet or dessert that we indulge in we must first reward our bodies with fruit. I hope this will not be a problem and may be embraced in your home as well.

I like things neat and organized so I will gladly perform some cleaning to keep the home clean and relaxing, not stressful, to come home to. I grew up on a farm and have had domesticated animals all my life so there is no animal mess or conundrum that will scare me. I will gladly clean up after accidents, feed, care for, and love the family pets as my own.

I am also a firm believer in structure so I will insist on rewards and consequences for behavior (NOT spanking). Effective use of disciplinary techniques ensures a structured environment where everyone can enjoy themselves and amplify the fine qualities and traits they have in relative comfort and ease.
