Dear Parents,
If you're looking for a part-time or full-time babysitter, I am here to help. I am a mature, responsible, and cheerful young woman with excellent childcare and interpersonal skills who is committed to life-long learning and self-improvement. At 24, I have been living on my own, thousands of mile away from home, for almost six years. The independent living has made me extremely self-sufficient for my age, which translates to every aspect of my work as a nanny. A person of many interests – such as reading, figure skating, photography, web development, and drawing – I love to introduce children, if age allows, to my favorite hobbies or support and encourage them in interests of their own. A diligent student, I strive to create an educational environment and take a great pride in seeing the children entrusted to me advance in school. A health-conscious and active individual, I am just as committed to instilling healthy habits in my charges. Most importantly, however, I truly enjoy helping families raise their youngsters and have never met a child I could not get along with.
My Brief Employment History as a Childcare Provider in the US:
After moving to the United States from Ukraine in 2006, I spent one year in the Bay Area as an au-pair for three girls: four-year-old twins, Alix and Morgan, and their eight-year-old sister, Samantha. My au-pair responsibilities included getting the girls ready in the morning, driving them to school and preschool, performing light-housekeeping duties while the girls were away, taking them to after-school activities, supervising playdates, and getting the children ready for bed at night. I had a great relationship with the family and formed a very strong bond with the girls. Unfortunately, the mother lost her job as a result of the begininning recession, and I was unable to stay for the second year.
I was offered to work for different family by my Aupair agency, but decided that I would rather continue my higher education in the United States. This decision brought me to New Jersey, where I was offered a live-in nanny position that allowed me to attend a nearby community college full-time. The family consisted of a single father and his son, Chad, who was seven years old when I started, and I was employed by them from December 2007 to August 2011. My responsibilities in this family consisted of getting the boy ready for school in the morning, picking him up from school and taking him to afterschool activities when needed, tutoring him in reading and math, preparing all of his meals, running small errands, doing the family laundry, and performing light housekeeping. I stayed with the family for until earning my Associate Degree, after which I moved to LA with the goal of completing my Bachelor's at Occidental College.
While in New Jersey, I was also employed as a part-time babysitter by a family with two children: a baby girl named Samantha and her brother, Dominic, who were nine months old and two years old respectively when I started. From December 2007 to August 2008, when my classes began, I was babysitting Samantha and Dominic in the mornings and afternoons (while my main charge was at school) for approximately 30 hours per week. My responsibilities in this family included changing both kids' diapers, preparing meals, feeding the baby, as well as helping the mother with the family laundry and keeping common areas clean. I continued to help the family on an occasional basis after my studies began in September 2008 until my departure to LA.
Other Things:
- I have almost 10 year of tutoring experiences (English and all levels of Math)
- Having self-tutored myself to an SAT score of 2340, I can help older children with preparing for the test during summer and troughout next academic year
- I am well-versed in principles of healthy nutrition and abide by these principles when preparing meals and choosing snacks for my charges.
- I drive a new reliable car, have insurance and clean driving record
- I am extremely flexible with the schedule for the next three months
- I am willing to provide housekeeping services
Reviews & References
Mariia showed up on short notice and immediately bonded with my daughter. She was great!! She even offered to do light housekeeping while my daughter took a nap. She folded a load of laundry and completed a load of the girls' laundry (including folding). I highly recommend Mariia. - Myshell T.
