About Courtney
I am currently a student-athlete at CSUDH. I've been playing basketball ever since I can remember but I have always had a passion for sports and exercise. I am currently a student-athlete at CSUDH. I've been playing basketball ever since I can remember but I have always had a passion for sports and exercise. I love to bake/cook, I love getting in to art & crafts projects and I LOVE kids... & animals of all kinds! I own a small dog "Sir Louis" who is now 2 years old but I've taken care of him since 5 weeks old and toothless!
I’ve been babysitting a set of brothers since they were 10mo and 4 yrs old and they are now 3 and 6 (and cuties)! I am a nanny for a 10 year old boy genius ever since he was 7 (still have never beat him at chess). He has Aspergers syndrome but has really matured over the years and is awesome to work with. And I babysit for 2 amazing sisters ages 9 & 13 for 2 years now :) And I occasionally (due to distance) babysit for an adorable 10 mo y/o girl! So I have tons of experience and counting…
I recently studied abroad in Bilbao, Spain where I've gained so much life experience. I taught English to Spanish students there from ages 5-18 at multiple schools-so I do speak some Spanish. And this Fall (2012) I will be graduating with my BA in Business Management with aspirations to attend Optometry School in less than 2 years!!
I started volunteering in high school, and I’m not going to lie, it was because it was a requirement to graduate. But once I got in to it, I couldn't stop! I've volunteered at multiple programs and events. But to list a "top 3," I must say volunteering at The Braille Institute, Venice Family Clinic-Optometry Department, and the Union Station Homeless Feed for Christmas and Thanksgiving is simply life changing and inspirational.
As for a babysitting/nannying philosophy, I do keep the parents in mind at all times. Whether it is the food/snacks they eat, play time, discipline, etc. I like to go over these things with the parent beforehand so I can try and run their household as close to the way the parents would.
