My philosophy about our children is that they are precious gifts and they need to be given lots of love, roots and wings. Children need unconditional love and a feeling of security which is the roots; this will enable them to learn self-reliance and independence and a positive self image (wings). They need to be nourished as well as disciplined.

I love children and I have been a caregier for many years off and on. Most recently, I cared for a six month old for eight months full time. Before that I cared for a three month old and stayed with her until her eighth month, when the family decided to place her in a daycare facility.

I worked for a doctor who was single and needed her three girls cared for after school until the next day. I cooked dinner and breakfast, prepared lunches and spent the night and brought them to school the next morning. I also worked some Sundays. I have also cared for my neighbor's daughter who is 5 years of age on an ongoing basis since she was born.  I have also cared for my grandson who is now 8 since he and his parents (my daughter and son-in-law) arrived in this country from Paris around his second birthday.

As the personal assistant and office manager for a doctor in Petaluma, I lived in her home and cared for her son beginning when he was seven when he was with her (she had joint custody) until age ten. I would pick him up from school, cook meals, help him with homework and help with bedtime, when needed.

Previous to that, when my children were young, I ran a state licenced daycare in my home for k-2 grades; after school care and full time in the summer. I also ran a summer camp for 6-8 graders for two summers.

I am comfortable with all ages, having raised four children of my own.

I am an animal lover, especially cats and currently have a beautful long-haired resue cat named Zisa. My husband and I have had dogs as well and I have cared for, fed and walked my client's dogs.

I was a volunteer youth mentor for a Salvation Army program in Santa Rosa and for the Y in Marin. I also was as assistant for DrawBridge, a program that does art with homeless children.

I have a basic understanding of Spanish and love to speak it.

I am CPR and First Aird certified and my favorite activities to do with children are arts and crafts and music and movement. I also enjoy taking them on excursions, especially to parks and museums. I also love yoga and walking.
