I became a Red Cross Certified baby sitter at age eleven, and I could not have been more excited. Even as a young child I was always the "mommy" when we played house, and my parent's have lots of cute stories about me taking care of younger children in elementary school. From then until I turned 17 I made good use of my certification. I had three families with multiple children in my neighborhood that kept me busy most of the time, and with the referrals I received from them I had abundant opportunities to learn about working with kids from infancy to elementary school. My fondest memories of that period in my career were the bonds that formed between me and children I watched on a regular basis as they grew up. I started dancing and doing musical theater at a very young age, and in high school I was hired to teach beginning dance lessons to kids ranging in age from 5 to 14. These were challenging and extremely rewarding experiences. I absolutely loved having the opportunity to impart to those children my love of dance. After graduating from The Denver School of the Arts in 2000, and up until the last two years, I focused less on childcare and more on school and other lines of work. It was my work as a volunteer with the Loveland Youth Gardeners in 2008 that reminded me how great it is to interact with kids. Working with the challenged teens in that program really made me realize that childcare was something I wanted to include in my life. Since then I've taken a more active role in helping friends and family with their children. My stepsisters 5 year old and 8 year old in particular have been helpful in refreshing my knowledge and skills as I've watched them grow over the last 2 years. I currently nanny for a family with a three year old boy and a five year old girl. Over the last six months I've really become attached to them and they've helped become a very capable and effective care giver. My goal at this point in my life is to take what I've learned thus far about what makes me thrive, and use it to make my life happy and full. I am currently pursuing a career as an artist and writer, and I am looking forward to integrating children into my life again.
