Hello my name is Gracie and I love working with children; its one of those things in life that comes natural to me. I have lived in Chicago for about 3 1/2 years. I am currently doing my student teaching this semester and am looking for babysitting opportunities to make some money to live off of during the semester. Before student teaching, I used to work as a nanny for a three year old boy who was very active. I was with that family for over two years but, sadly, with my graduate school schedule and Bobby starting preschool, our schedules did not match up so I am looking other families to work with. I also used to work at a day care center on the North side and I have also spent many hours interning in preschool and grade school settings. I have seven nieces and nephews ranging in age from 4 to 21 so I have basically been around kids my whole life. I also currently have many babysitting clients but am looking for more to get more steady money. Needless to say, I have plenty of experience working with kids. I am currently studying Early Childhood Education and I know how to be assertive and appropriate when it comes to discipline. I also have teaching experience so I can be helpful with homework after school. I love getting outside and exploring parks and museums. I'm hard-working, kind, caring, and keep a positve attitude. Hopefully, I am currently working on getting recertified for CPR and First Aid. My ideal family would be 2 kids ranging in age from 1 to 8, who is understanding, and has a sense of humor. I enjoy coming up with creative activities for kids and showing them lots of love.
My husband and I first met Gracie nearly four years ago when she was a teacher at our son’s pre-school. For the first 18 months of life, our son had stayed home with a nanny. Not surprisingly, he had a difficult time transitioning to pre-school. We were so grateful that Gracie was there to help him through that time. He took to her right away. In fact, she was the only teacher he’d let us pass him off to in the morning. Gracie is also great at creating customized activities to match each child’s ability, skills and interests. For example, my son loves art projects and Play-doh, so Gracie made sure that she provided many opportunities for him to follow his natural interests and engage in these activities as much as possible, both within the context of structured lessons and as a play activity. She was also very attentive to his personal care (feeding, hygiene, etc.) and provided us with a daily report of his activities, behavior, and napping and eating habits. Gracie has also been a regular babysitter for us over the years. She follows my son's routine and provides him with stimulating activities rather than just sitting him down in front of the television. He looks forward to spending time with her. I highly recommend Gracie. She has always provided our son with a safe, secure and loving experiences. We feel that we can trust Gracie to care for our little boy as if he were her own. - Kathy H.

Gracie was our Nanny for a short time in the Fall/Winter of 2012. If she hadn't started student teaching we would have had a hard time giving her up! She cared for my two children, ages 2 and 6 months, excellently. Every time I came home my children were happy and content, and the house was usually cleaner than when I'd left it! Amazing. Gracie was wonderful at teaching my daughter (2) new things (songs, phrases, etc) and my son (a total momma's boy) was so happy with her. We worked together on a schedule that met our needs, but she was always open to adjustments and took our unorthodox schedule in stride. I would highly recommend Gracie as a Nanny or Babysitter. She will be a wonderful addition to your life and treat your kids like her own family! - Sara S.
There are not enough superlatives to describe Gracie, our nanny for two years. Gracie took care of my son as well as I do. She is loving, energetic, and creative. She not only attended to his physical needs, but furthered his mental and emotional development as well. Gracie took my son all over the city, to museums, the zoo, the beach, classes, etc. She was also always coming up with creative and fun projects and activities. An example: One day I mentioned that we would be going to a party with a pinata. When I got home from work, she and my son had created a pinata from a decorated a paper bag. Another example: I came home to find a bowl with one strawberry inside and a note “Do Not Touch” on the counter. She explained that they were doing a science project to see how food spoils. Each day they inspected the strawberry and she wrote down their observations. Maybe the most important endorsement, though, is from my son. He absolutely adores Gracie. He often tells us that he wants to marry her (and that they will both live at home with us)! Our family really can’t recommend Gracie enough. - Susan Z.
I used to work at a day care center where I also babysat some of my toddler students. I have since been referred many times and babysit for multiple families.
