I am a 3rd year student at Norheastern University -- Studying psychology with an interest in Child Development and Special Education. My younger brother was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at a young age and I have watched him grow and he has taught me so much about patience and viewing the world through a different set of lenses. Because of this, I am currently majoring in psychology hoping eventually to go into special education and help kids like others have helped my brother. I worked as a special needs aide at a YMCA summer camp for three years. I also volunteered as a camp counselor for inner city kids whose lives are affected by HIV/AIDS, Camp Amerikids, which I hope to participate in again. This past summer I worked as a group leader at Youthcare, a camp for kids with social and learning challenges in Westwood, MA. I have had a ton of babysitting experience since I was 12-years-old. I've worked with many different families with children ranging from infants to pre-teens. I have worked with many children with special needs, specifically on the autism spectrum at my job at SuperKids Club (where I help facilitate social interactions and teach social skills) but I also spent some time working with a little girl with diabetes. I have been a summer camp counselor for troubled kids from inner-city families. I have worked with both girls and boys in a range of ages. I have changed diapers, been spit up on, and cleaned up many messes. And it doesn't bother me at all. I love working with kids and I hope to do so in the future in the field of special education.
