I began babysitting when I was thirteen years old and have been working with children, in some capacity, ever since. I was employed by a nanny agency in Edina and worked with a wonderful eleven-year old boy and his family, was a preschool/toddler assistant at a daycare center in my hometown, got to know a couple of amazing young girls (ages 10 and 15) from different families, providing after-school care, and have been the regular "date-night nanny" for a number of infants.

Much of my experience has been in working with children who have special needs or challenges, as a PCA, a DSP, and a volunteer. I am now working as a graduate psychology intern at a mental health day treatment program for kids who have psychological and/or behavioral issues that have gotten in the way of them succeeding in a traditional school setting. It's challenging and emotional work, but I love it. 

I graduated with honors from Hamline University, with a bachelor's degree in psychology (emphasis on criminology, pathology, and lifespan development), and am presently working toward my doctorate in Clinical Psychology. My aspiration is to focus my work on the treatment of youth who are involved in the juvenile justice system, especially early offenders with complicated co-morbidities and a history of trauma/abuse.
