Hi! My name is Kari, pronounced rhyhming with the word sorry. I'm from Syracuse, NY. I taught Sunday school for grades 2, 5 and 6 combined, and 7th and 8th combined at Our Lady of Pompei church. I also have student taught at Smith Road elementary in a 1st grade inclusive classroom. Since I have been to college, I have worked with pre-k and kindergarten children as well as second grade students in inclusive settings. I worked in a kindergarten/first grade classroom at Blodgett Elementary with "at risk" students. I have also worked in a third grade class at Wetzel Road Elementary and then in a fifth grade Inclusive class at Ed Smith Elementary. I have worked at Hughes Elementary school in a self-contained classroom of a 12:1:1 ratio with students of severe special needs, a self-contained classroom at Dr. Edwin E. Weeks Elementary and a 1st grade Inclusive classroom at Salem-Hyde Elementary. I decided to become a teacher because I had a teacher who once helped me and showed me the impact that one person can have on your life and I would like to be that person for the children out there. I recently graduated from Syracuse University with a BS for Special Education, Elementary Education, and History/Social Studies. I have had significant amounts of experience working with children ranging from birth through high-school. Some of my school age experience is listed above. I studied Early childhood education in High-school and was able to do placements in early childhood centers and at a primary grade school. I also just worked at an early childhood center before returning to school in the fall 2008 semester to complete my history degree. While at the center I worked with the infants, toddlers, and pre-school children the most. If there is anything more you would like to know please feel free to ask.
