I have been working in the childcare industry for over fourteen years.  I have worked in various child care settings, from franchise daycares, individual daycares, and in-home childcare.

My experience began at Youthland Academy in Cincinnati in 1999.  I worked in the infant room, and was responsible for opening the daycare center.  We had a teacher/child ratio of 5:1 or 12:2, so I am comfortable taking care of multiple children at once.  I was also working part time for an independently owned daycare during the evening hours for additional income.  I continued my service with Youthland even after my husband and I moved to a suburb of Cincinnati.  I continued to work with the infant room, but I was now responsible for closing the center.  I continued working at Youthland until my husband and I moved to Cleveland.

Upon arriving in Cleveland in 2006, I decided that I was going to continue working in childcare, so I obtained an infant room position at Creative Playrooms, in Strongsville.  Working at Creative Playrooms was a very different experience than I had been used to, due to the amount of children that we took care of.  We had approximately 30 infants and 5 teachers in the infant room, previously the most infants that I was involved with was 18, with 3 teachers.  The work atmosphere was still good there with all of the infants that we had, this is where I mastered multi-tasking.  When enrollment was low or as needed, I would help out in other age group rooms, up to 12 years old.  I even worked in the kitchen on several occasions.  I was lucky to be able to care for our daughter while I was still working in the infant room.

Shortly after our daughter turned two, in 2010, I began my current, in-home childcare position.  I just ended my contract with a family, watching a 1 year old girl, 4 year old boy, 6 year old Golden Lab, and 3 cats, along with my daughter, at their home.  I enjoyed the personal attention that I gave to each of the children on a daily basis.  I was able to do homework with the two toddlers, as I prepare them both for preschool.  The both learned their letters, colors, shapes, and numbers.  Both of them can successfully write their names.  They are getting some social skills, in that they are interacting and playing with each other on a daily basis, to a point when on Fridays they are upset that they are going to spend a few days away from each other.

I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the zoo, and swimming (when it is warm enough).  I have been married to my husband and best friend for nearly 10 years.  We have a three year old daughter that currently is involved in dance and plans to “Dance like the big girls” soon.  I have a ten year old Chihuahua that is very laid back and just likes to hang out around our house.  We have a large family room that is currently used as a playroom, along with an extra bedroom that my daughter has turned in to an additional play room.  We have a swing set and pool (fenced and retractable ladder).
