My name is Amy.  I am a part time art teacher and artist.  I have been working with children for more than ten years.   I currently do artist residencies in the Portland Public Schools and have some regular teaching gigs around town.  I also nanny for a delightful 7 year old boy whom I have been picking up after school for 2.5 years two days a week. 

Although I have worked with young people of all ages from toddlers to high school... Most of my experience has been with preschool and elementary children. I have nannied for children from ages 1.5 years through 8 years.   I also cared for my 2 nephews from infancy so I have plenty of experience working with babies and am very comfortable working with children of all ages. I do not have any children of my own but I would like to someday.  I am the proud parent of a 2 year old boston terrier,  Tito.  

I enjoy engaging children in creative play and have been known to bring over art activities for the children I care for.  I tend to follow the child's lead asking open ended questions to determine the childs interests.  I offer guidance and boundaries when necessary.  Ideally,  I like to follow the same rules parents have.  I have worked for families that like me to take children on outings  to the Childrens Museum and OMSI and I have worked for families that prefer to keep the children at home. I am open to doing what is interesting and engaging for you and your child!
