I have cared for children ranging in ages from 1-13 in Tennessee, Oregon, Hawaii, Guatemala, and Honduras.
I am not fluent, but I have a very good understanding of Spanish having spent so much time in spanish speaking countries.
Currently, I am working for a family part time as their person chef/ house manager/ nanny. They have two wonderful children ages 4 and 6. My responsibilities include, but are certainly not limited to: cleaning, cooking, shopping, laundry, after school care, picking the kids up from school, organizing, dry cleaning, watching on date nights and taking care of the dog.
I am very comfortable with animals, my family has two dogs. One small mutt named Rocky and a big alaskan malamute named Oreo. I love all animals. I have bunnies, fish, dogs, cats, turtles, and even a snake.
I have worked for a nonprofit organization Mission Discovery since I was 13, giving me the opportunity to meet people on all walks of life. We specialized on construction and childcare; building homes, schools, and creating afterschool programs to get children off the streets and into the classrooms.
Reviews & References
Bad follow up. It took me a week or so to get a return call from Ali to establish the initial phone interview. Once we were able to find a time to meet she was very sweet and personable. My husband and I had concerns with her lack of follow up in the begining and our concerns didn't ease up as the process went along. We learned that she started at 2 different colleges and didn't complete either degree, she moved around a lot, and yet she told us she was looking for long term and stable work. We explained we had 40 hours a week and would love to have her job shadow. She said she was very interested in the role. I left 2 voicemails and an email and neve heard back. Waste of our time. Sweet girl but not reliable and flighty. - Christina K.
Ali says: I completely understand Christina's review. My mother was unexpectedly in the hospital for her health and I didn't put getting back to Christina and her husband with a response as a priority. I did not notify them the way I should have. My employers however would be able to tell you otherwise, I am very reliable and not at all flighty. I am punctual, responsive, and dedicated to my job and their families, as well as my own.
