Hi everyone! Here is a little bit about myself.. my name is Jamie and I just turned 23 in June. I was born and raised in West Virginia and I am moving to the Philadelphia area at the end of July. I attended a private, college prep high school and then attended West Virginia University the fall after my high school graduation. While at WVU I became a member of Alpha Phi Sorority, where I was appointed Director of Community Service. While I was Director of Community Service I organized over 500 hours of community service for the sisters to participate in, some of the organizations we worked with were Head Start, Boys and Girls Club of America, Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia, and The Rosenbaum Family House of Ruby Memorial Hospital. I was also a member of Student Advocates for Invisible Children, I was Committee Head for the Invisible Children Book Drive and we placed top 50 in the nation for collecting the most textbooks. I also volunteered on the Pediatrics floor at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

A little bit about my education and experiences with children.. I will graduate in July 2012 with a Degree in Child Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Birth-Pre-K. I have my certification in Special Education and I am CPR and First Aid Certified. After I complete my degree in July I will be applying to get my Pre-K certification in WV and in PA. This past spring semester I completed my student teaching in an inclusive public Preschool, which I absolutely loved. I had 18 students in my classroom, three of the children had special needs, and 14 of them were in the Head Start Program. I really enjoyed spending the day with all of the children and miss them so much! I am currently finishing my infant internship where I work with children from the age of six weeks to one year. Two years ago I had another infant internship at Ruby Memorial's Child Development Center. The past two years I have babysat for a set of twin girls, they were 11 months when I started and they just turned three in April. I enjoyed watching them grow and helping them reach their developmental milestones. I am very close with their family, I see them as my family away from home. I am a very nurturing, creative, and patient person and knew I wanted to work with children from a young age.
