Amy E. Babysitter in Lancaster, PA 17601. Looking for work as a babysitter.

My name is Amy, and I currently reside in Lancaster, PA.  From 2010 to 2011, I worked as an Au  Pair (live-in nanny) in Switzerland for 10 months.  During this time, I was responsible for teaching and caring for 3 children under the age of 6.  My main priority as their Au Pair was to teach and help maintain the children's competencies in the English language.  My duties also included household work, such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry for myself and the family.  I also ensured the children's timely arrival to Kindergarten and 1st grade.  I spent four days of the week teaching the children, preparing their meals, and supervising their playtime. I worked an average of 35 hours a week with the children, and I worked additional hours as I weekly cleaned the house.  Prior to my Au Pair I experience in Switzerland, I was a teacher's aide at a daycare and babysat for several families. I have worked with children of ages ranging from one to twelve in daycare, babysitting, and camp settings.  I am currently a student at Drexel University, where I am attaining my Master's Degree and a teaching certificate in Elementary Education.  I graduated Millersville University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.

I encourage active lifestyles in children; I love to play sports and board games with children and I interact with them as much as possible through these activities.   I am a huge advocate for literacy in children: at the daycare, I formed "writing centers," where I taught children ages 3-5 the alphabet and how to form words with letters.  I made a point to give children books to read every day in hopes of making reading a fun activity at an early age. 

Working with children has been a rewarding career for me, and I look forward to gaining even more experience with the child care profession.
