I have also babysat an 11 year old boy with autism, and I grew up with a sister with severe mental retardation. She is no longer with us, but growing up with her provided me with valuable experience in taking care of people with special needs. I also was a nanny for a boy who was on the Autism/Asperger's spectrum. He had severve isusses with defiance, noncompliance, and attitude, and this experience helped me to better understand the disability and learn how to deal with it.
I attend the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where I am majoring in EC-6 Interdisciplinary Education. This degree will certify me to teach EC-6 General Education and EC-12 Special Education and English as a Second Language. I am currently in my senior year, and I will begin student teaching in January of 2013.
I am very comfortable babysitting for families who have pets. I've grown up around indoor and outdoor dogs, birds, and cats.
Rebekah has been our son's nanny for almost a year, and we love her to pieces. My son has gone from a crawling infant to a walking, talking, climbing toddler in the time that we have had Rebekah around, and has grown to love her just as much as we do. Between caring for him with the utmost patience and warmth, she has made a point to teach him as much as she can daily. She is the only person besides my husband and myself that he will run to the door for, or cry for when she leaves. We would keep her around forever, except that we are moving to Virginia this month (if I could sneak her with us in a suitcase, I would). I truly worry that we will never find someone as perfect for my son or my family as Rebekah, and that says a lot. If you need someone who is honest, caring, smart, thoughtful, sincere, and trustworthy to watch the most important little people in your life, you need to hire Rebekah today. She is the best you're going to find! - Stephanie C.
