I was just four when I began learning how to help my mother with my three younger siblings. I was babysitting for other families by the time I was a teenager. While raising my own children I often cared for others in my own home. 

I have enjoyed periods of work in offices, churches, and schools, but my favorite job was always being mom. There always seemed to be plenty of kids hanging out at my house, especially when I was a youth pastor. I find myself at loose ends now that my girls have their own children, and want to find a family that needs my help and can afford the best.

I am both playful and patient with children, with a silly sense of humor kids like. My care is interactive, and the activities I plan are imaginative. Children who spend time with me will learn to speak English clearly, to run for a towel when they have spilled something, and to swim without fear of the water.

I can sing, dance, and make up stories with a child's help. When a child ignores something I have told them to do, I can be insistent without being mean. When I supervise homework I tutor, and also teach ways to be organized for schooldays. 

As a youth pastor and as a teacher I had special relationships with students who had invisible disabilities like ADHD. My husband had a learning difference but worked hard to complete college, and I admire him for his terrific effort.

I watch very little TV; I enjoy swimming, camping, reading, and writing. I love taking kids with me to have new experiences like plays, apple orchards, pet stores, and outdoor festivals.

If you have room for me, I would be willing to stay over a few nights a week (and my husband won't mind as long as he has an oil painting he's working on!)
