I am a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in Journalism, and have recently completed a 10 month program with AmeriCorps.  AmeriCorps is like the domestic Peace Corps, so members work in communities across the nation to provide service in many different ways.  My particular program aimed to help low-performing children in an elementary school in southern California.  I made daily lesson plans and tracked the progress of each of my 30 children throughout the year.  After school, I ran a science program for kids in grades 2-4, where we did experiments and learned about natural wonders.  

After finishing the program in August, I have decided to continue volunteering with children and also pursure another degree in nutrition.  My hope is to one day combine my interests by teaching the youth of America to be healthy at a young age.

My experience working with kids began when I was 11 years old and my 13 year old sister and I founded a neighborhood summer camp.  The attendees came over three times a week, where we held games, crafts/activities, and lunch.  During that time,  I began babysitting for a few families near my house, and then became a full-time sitter during the summers for a particular family.  When those children grew up, I had the pleasure of helping to care for my newborn nephew for two and a half years, until I left for college.

As a babysitter, I offer all of my abilities to care for your children and fulfill whatever needs you/they may have.  I am eager to play, cook, encourage and support with schoolwork, help around the house and make sure our time together is fun and productive.
