Picky Little Eaters

by Admin

Trying new foods doesn't have to be stressful.

Kids can make it tough to incorporate new (or healthy for that matter) foods into their diets, and it’s especially hard for the babysitter or nanny. Of course you don’t want to force them to eat, but then again you want to make sure they’re getting proper nutrition. So what do you do?

Try out these tips for your picky little eaters.

Top 10 Best Cities to Find a Babysitter

by Admin

Virginia Beach, VA took the top spot as the number one place to find a babysitter.

We recently conducted a study to find the top cities to find a babysitter, and the results were pretty interesting. The list was derived from over 50,000 current job posts and over a million sitters profiles and looked at hourly rates, as well as how many sitters were in that area. Virginia Beach has approximately 3,500 sitters to choose from and has one of the most cost-effective hourly averages with a rate of about $10 per hour.

Leaving Your Child for the First Time

by Admin

Guest Post: Charlene DeLoach Oliver

I am going to BlogHer’10 this year and I am super excited to meet fellow bloggers and great companies. Yet, while I am running around the Big Apple learning how to be a better blogger, I will be wondering if I am a decent mother.

When I leave for BlogHer, I will be leaving my son for the first time overnight. Since he was born nine months ago, the longest time I have been away from him is eight hours. At BlogHer, it will be 77 hours and 33 minutes. (But who’s counting).

It can be anguishing to leave your baby for the first time. As you see their little face looking at you, it makes you want to forget the (a) anniversary dinner, (b) expensive concert tickets, or (c) first haircut in months, and just stay home.

Baby Planners: Would you use them?

by Admin

For many people, the details of planning a wedding can be pretty overwhelming, so it has become somewhat common to hire professionals to relieve some of the stress and let them do the planning for you.

And apparently having babies isn’t any different.

A new trend that seems to be popping up is hiring baby concierges—or baby planners—to help guide parents through the maze of new parenthood. Services offered include completing your baby registry (with all the up-to-date research on cribs, car seats, etc.), designing your nursery, planning your baby shower, providing breast feeding support and pediatrician searches, baby-proofing your home and even bringing meals to your family after baby is born.

Do You Pay Your Sitter While You’re on Vacation?

by Admin

An interesting question popped up on the Sittercity Facebook page recently regarding whether or not you should pay your babysitter or nanny when you and your family go on vacation. The question went like this:

“Our sitter has been working with us for about a month, 3 times a week, 6 hours each day and is paid hourly. We told her we were going on a 2 week vacation. We just got back from vacation and she expects to be paid for the time she didn’t work. She says this is normal. This sounds crazy to me. Is this “normal”?”
