Dog Gives Birth to Green Puppy
In New Orleans last week, a green puppy was born. Yes, green. All natural — no cruel dye tricks here. Aside from his hue, he is completely normal and healthy!
Apparently, this sometimes happens when the mother’s amniotic fluid mixes with the placenta during birth and dyes the coat of the puppy. It’s harmless and doesn’t last forever.

This green pup will likely turn white or light tan in the next few weeks.
Here’s a CNN video about the little green guy:
This is the first time we’ve heard about a green puppy, but it isn’t the first time this has happened… In 2005, a golden retriever in California gave birth to a green puppy, who was quickly and appropriately named Wasabi.

Wow, I’ve never seen anything like this. The only time I knew anything about green puppies was when a litter of pups had died inside a mother dog that had been in labor too long and could not deliver. I was a volunteer at the local kennel. We weren’t supposed to, but we ended up taking the dog to the vet. When we got her back, she didn’t survive. For what this dog endured, I am sure she is in doggy heaven, too. Even though she was in extreme pain, she was very sweet.
