How do I write a good review?

Back to help

A good way to begin is by saying how long you have known the Sittercity member or family, so others can understand the background and history of your relationship. Describe how accommodating and dependable the member was, and how you felt the member came across (genuine? Funny? Strict? Professional? Sweet? Caring?).

  • If you're a caregiver, describe the nature of children, pets or seniors you cared for. As a general rule, don't use a child's name in the review, since it may make the parent uncomfortable.
  • If you're a care seeker, how did your children, pets or loved ones feel about the caregiver? How comfortable were you leaving them in her care?
  • Regardless of your role, would you recommend this Sittercity member to others?

Reviews don't have to be long. An example: Suzanne is a fantastic sitter! She's always on time, professional and truly caring. Our two kids love her, especially when she pulls out one of her games (like Sudoku with Shapes!) from her babysitting bag of tricks. I would definitely recommend her.

A brief note: Be careful of the connotations of certain words. You may think that describing children as a "handful," followed by a smiley face is a cute but accurate description. Mom and Dad may find it less so. Try "energetic" or "active" instead.

If you didn't have a stellar experience with a Sittercity member, refrain from anything that can be considered defamatory and instead just stick to the facts. So the caregiver couldn't be on time to save her life? No need to say, "She is completely irresponsible and disrespectful." Give a factual account of what happened instead: "She was frequently late to jobs."
