What should I put in my profile video?
Back to helpCreating a video interview for your profile is a KEY way to getting more work and cash. You'll be able to truly capture your unique personality, instantly woo care seekers and land even more jobs -- but you need to know where to begin. Grab a friend (or a tripod) and get ready to shine.
To help give your video the right focus, we suggest answering the following five questions live in a video clip and posting it to YouTube:
1. State your name, age and caregiving qualifications.
Rattle it off like a clean list or speak conversationally -- whatever's more consistent with your personality. In terms of caregiving qualifications, you'll want to reveal details like you're the oldest of seven children (like our CEO, Genevieve Thiers!), you're an education major, you've been babysitting for nine years, and you have 15 families you currently sit for.
2. Why do you love caregiving?
Sure, the money helps, but what is it about a care provider that really draws you in?
3. Why do you think you are a great caregiver?
Aside from your love of the job, is there anything else in your personality that makes you such a great caregiver? Think about your previous jobs -- why were you hired time and time again? Maybe you're an artsy-creative type who always has an activity in mind. Maybe you're sensible and patient, and able to handle emergencies like a pro. Or, maybe you've got a contagious sense of humor that always keeps people laughing.
4. What is your previous experience?
How did it all start? Don't get into a long-winded tale -- remember, these are busy people you're trying to win over! List any past jobs that are related to caregiving and don't forget to mention any special training, like CPR or first aid.
5. When you're not providing care, what is your favorite thing to do?
If you volunteer at the local shelter, meet with your friends each week for Trivia Night or play a competitive sport, this is the area to let people know a little something about you personally.
Feel free to get creative with your videos, but make sure you come across responsibly. Keep in mind that what you think is kooky and quirky, someone else might find irritating and immature... and that's no way to gain jobs! When in doubt, err on the side of caution.
Speak clearly and succinctly, and don't forget to turn on the charm!
