The Sittercity Rate Calculator is the most accurate tool out there for determining babysitting rates because it uses rates based on real data from Sittercity, which, as you may know, is the largest babysitting site in the world.

We use a special formula to average the rates of all the jobs in our database, adding weight to the most recent jobs, the most popular jobs and the closest jobs to your ZIP code. Jobs that are statistically abnormal in terms of rate are NOT included in our calculation. Once we've got this raw data, we combine it with information gleaned from focus groups of parents and sitters to come up with the most accurate rates available. We also recalculate rates regularly, so you should always be seeing up-to-date information.

Of course, no matter how accurate our Rate Calculator is, there are often special circumstances surrounding every parent-sitter relationship. So, ultimately, the "right" rate is the one agreed upon by both the parents and sitter. The Rate Calculator should give you a great place to start!
