My name is Melanie. I attend Lakeland community college. I am 20 years old and full of “spunky energy” I am told by just about everyone I meet. I come from a great town and great family with an awesome head on my shoulders. I try and meet as many people as I can because I am definitely a people person. My friends and family would also describe me as outgoing, fun loving, and reliable. I have a great deal of experience in childcare as I have been watching kids since I was about 12 years old. I first started out watching a close family friend when my help was needed in the 7th grade. During my 8th grade year my sister, who is now thirty years old, got pregnant with her first child. I took on much of this responsibility being she was still finishing cosmetology school. My nephew was about three months old when I first started watching him full time as a 13 year old from nine to five, five days a week, for about three months and that’s where it really all began. As I got older I had more and more babysitting jobs. At 15 I was a nanny for a family of three boys for the summer and date nights. I have had a few consistent pick up babysitting jobs as well and still do. My sister has her own in home childcare which I have helped a lot with! Aka a “mother’s helper.” She has had another baby boy in the last couple of years who is now four and a newborn baby girl who is now six months. She has also had two newborn little girls who stayed with her, one of them is now two years old and I currently babysit when needed. I helped her a great deal with both of those babies. Many people call us “baby whispers.” She has given me that motherly touch! Two summers ago I was a live-in nanny for about five months where I was truly part of the family for a three year old boy. Many of the days we would go to my sisters with all of the other kids to play. While attending Mercyhurst I also worked a few jobs as a nanny/mothers helper for two amazing families of five. The one family had three little boys six, three, and one and the other family had three little girls of the exact same ages. Another job I maintained is babysitting three days out of the week or when needed for a different family of four. They had a little girl who was four and an eight year old boy with autism. And I also worked one night a week under the table at a restaurant. All of the babysitting jobs that I had I was actually found on sitter city by the families! In closure I have had a great deal of experience with newborns all the way up to kids of age 10. More about me is that I am very adventurous and love being outdoors so I am always up for anything. I am looking for a change of location and a job I know I will love, being I have had lots of jobs and I know watching kids is my favorite! And it’s a job that helps not only me out, but someone else as well. Also I do have my own car. I have a handful of references if needed.
