I've had five years of experience as a preschool teacher and six years of experience as a nanny.  I've worked with all ages of children, from not yet born to teens, and have truly enjoyed working with each age.  Children are amazing little beings--one of the best things about them is watching them learn without even trying.  I truly enjoy spending my days with the kids and doing anything and everything to keep them healthy and happy.  I think activities like playing outside, going to the library, going swimming, going for walks and to the park, cooking, baking, doing art, reading, having playdates, and learning manners are all vital to a child's development. 

When it comes to my style of "subsitute parenting", I like to use an authortitative approach--  I treat children with kindness, understanding, and respect at all times.  Along with that, I believe that kids need to know their expectations and limits, and be held to them.  Through all of my years of experience,  I have learned that parent/nanny communication, as well as nanny/child and child/parent communication are the KEYS to providing the best possible enviroment for the children and adults involved.

On a side note, I've had plenty of experience with children who have mild to moderate disabilities, and am always willing to learn how to give the best possible to care to any child, no matter what their needs.  I do need to update my certification in First Aid and CPR, but will update it within the next month.  I have a professional resume (with references) that is available upon request, and am more than happy to do a background check for you.

One last thing (I promise!):  my husband and I are expecting our first child at the end of June (surprise!!!!!!), so I'm hoping to work with a family who is open to me bringing my little lady to work with me.  I know that's asking a lot, but that would be the ideal situation for us.
