Dear Family,
My first job was at the age of 14 when I took on the role as a mother’s helper for my neighbor who had three children. After a year I transitioned into the role of babysitter/nanny and have been ever since. It is a wonderful way to build relationships with children and families and explore and learn from one another. Throughout high school I babysat for several families, which involved various skills and responsibilities including but not limited to: picking children up from school, preparing snacks and dinners, checking and helping with homework, light housekeeping, imaginative play, food shopping, utilizing the outdoors, biking, swimming, community exploration, gardening and baking with children, planning safe and fun adventures, story time, and bed time. When I graduated high school I attended the University of Vermont (UVM) and decided to continue my academics, focusing on my passion for children. In 2008, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. Throughout my academic career I was able to have rich experiences teaching in the University Child Care Center with children aged birth through 5 years and Elementary School Children aged 6 through 8 years old. Upon graduation I became a licensed teacher and the Preschool Director of a Community Center and Head Start School in Vermont. There I collaborated with my former professors by mentoring their UVM Early Education majors as they student taught in my classroom.
After two wonderful years as the Preschool Director and student teacher mentor, I decided to go abroad to New Zealand (NZ) to teach and travel. After applying and obtaining my NZ teaching license I became the Program Tutor for In-Home Educators, Nannies, and Babysitters. I was responsible for overseeing their quality of care, making certain health and safety checklists were kept up to date, and communicating with families and caregivers to ensure the children’s needs were being met and that everyone was fulfilled from the program. Additionally, I hosted playgroups and nature playschools where caregivers could get together and the children could socialize, play, and co-construct knowledge.
I have been very fortunate and blessed to have built so many wonderful relationships with families, children, and caregivers over the years. However, I am eager to get back to my roots and work directly in the home with children and their families. I aim to be a flexible and accommodating caregiver for parents, and fun and energetic for the children. I respect goals, routines, and beliefs that parents set in place for their children and strive to uphold those values. I appreciate open and honest communication from families and set my intentions to be the same. I always put the child’s health and safety first and hope to have a lot of fun! I am very excited to be moving to Colorado in late May and look forward to exploring the outdoors and being a part of the community.
I hope to hear from you and your family. Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience, and don’t hesitate to pass this on to others who may be interested. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Warm Regards,
Rebecca (Becky) Berman

I cared for three boys ages 4, 9, and 12 years old. I supported the parents by filling in where ever they needed assistance: cooking cleaning, running errands. I supported the children by helping with homework, leading adventures, and driving.
I looked after two young chilren. My duties and skills included taking the children to various lessons, picking them up from school, making dinner and snacks, helping with homework, cleaning up the house and having fun!
