Let me tell you a little about myself. I am originally from Simsbury. When I was little, my mom started running an in-home day care. I grew up helping my mom take care of kids; the kids ranged in age from infants to elementary school children. in addition, I started baby-sitting when I was 12. In high school, my mom paid me to help her with the children at her day care. I continued assisting her with the day care until she sold her house and closed the day care (after being in business for 20 years).  After that experience, I really wanted to keep working with children so I got a job as a nanny. 

It's very important to me that I find the right family to work for. As a nanny, I develop extremely close relationships with the children I work with and also the parents, so I want to make sure the job is the right fit. I think being a nanny is the greatest job in the world; I get to make a difference in a child's life and I find that extremely rewarding. Also, sometimes I think I relate better to kids than people my own age. I don't just "watch" kids; I interact with them and play with them. At the same time, I make sure that I incorporate learning into playtime; learning should be fun especially when children are small.  As a nanny, I think its part of my job to make sure kids love learning. In addition, I believe it is important that kids are active and get plenty of time to play outside. I think too many kids today spend their time cooped up inside watching TV or playing video games; it's such a shame because I know some of my best memories from childhood are of playing outside. Another activity that I am passionate about is reading.  I think its imperative that kids read everyday. I don't think its possible for a child to be too young to be read too. When I read to a child, I am enthusiastic and love making different voices for each character in the story.  I really enjoy watching children develop a passion for reading. As I said before, I really do think being a nanny is just an awesome job
