About JESSICA

I have worked as a Nanny and Caregiver for several families. My very first full time job was as a Shared-Nanny for 2 families with 5 children, ages 6wks to 11yrs old (one of the children had ADHD), for 2 years. I have worked as a Nanny and Caregiver for several families. My very first full time job was as a Shared-Nanny for 2 families with 5 children, ages 6wks to 11yrs old (one of the children had ADHD), for 2 years. I have also worked as a travel Nanny, only within the US because at the time I didn't have a passport (and was scared to fly over the ocean, lol). I have references and letters of recommendation available upon request. I have professional cleaning experience (cleaning services available for extra fee), and am a pretty good cook (but it is a matter of taste...pun intended). Also, the info below can also be found in my other bios. It is an overall generalization of the services I offer and/or positions I am qualified/set-up to fill. I just want to clarify that I do not have any restrictions on my ability or availability, at this time, to fulfill any and all requirements of any job I apply for, or am offered. I do have back-ups ready to cover or take over my current responsibilities temporarily, or permanently (for the right position), if/when needed...and they have all already been pre-approved by the parents (They would also be available as a back-up, for you, if you would like). Thank you.

***Discounted cleaning/housekeeping services available for permanent/regular clients!

I am CPR/1st Aid Certified. I was also a CNA from 18-22, licensed in PA & FL. Obviously, you can see that I passed the criminal background, and will submit to random drug testing (at your cost). Also, you can see my driving record and DL in my photos (some info blacked out for my protection). I have a 2010, fully insured, vehicle with 3rd row seating and DVD player for transporting kids to the park, to/from school, and/or home.

I’m available for daily or hourly as-needed care (on call), weekly part-time or full-time care (in my home), and/or live-out nanny services (your home). Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to hearing from you.

ABOUT ME:

A LITTLE ABOUT ME & MY KIDS (They don’t come to work with me, unless requested by the parents): I'm a college educated 31-year-old mom of two successful, loving children ages 10 and (almost) 2. My daughter skipped the 3rd grade, and has still made the Principle's List at her private school every grading period since...even while participating in more than 10 dance, music, and sport electives (2-3, per day) - she is an excellent student and dancer, and performs several times a year. My son is pure boy! He has just started learning to talk due to being unable to hear until after his last ear surgery, which took place in August, but he is doing GREAT job catching up. He loves to make noise and messes, all while naked, lol (very hard to keep clothes and diapers on him when he is at home). Therefore, he needs eyes on him at all times, lol. His favorite activities include: coloring and drawing on the walls & floors, dumping out ALL of his toys, taking his drinks and pouring them onto the floor (making puddles to splash and play in), and playing with (and occasionally annoying) his big sister. >>>I am not a person that stresses about messes and stains - it's a healthy part of development...and still happens when we are grown. Messes can be cleaned up, stains are only permanent on material items that can eventually be replaced...and if they can't be replaced, they hold memories that can be pleasant or regretful depending on how you react to it. I always say "If I can't bring it with me when I die, then it's not important", aloud, it helps to me to not stress about things that cannot be undone.<<< He (my son) is also a big lover…kisses, hugs, says "thank you", and is very empathetic. Although my son is still learning, and has his “moments”, both of my children are kind, well-behaved, and a testimony of my care and guidance.

EDUCATION: I graduated from SPC with High Honors when I received my AA in 2007, and I am now 37 credits shy of having 2 BA degrees. In 2007, prior to my graduation from SPC, I traveled to South Africa with other high achieving students from colleges and universities from across the nation, for a 3-week Delegation on Diplomacy (SEE PHOTOS). While there, we participated in several community outreach programs (in Cape Town & Johannesburg), spent a day at the House of Parliament in Cape Town, had dinner with the US Consulate, and ended with a 3-day stay and safari at Kruger National Park. I’m also a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, The Golden Key Honour Society, The National Dean’s List, and have made the Dean’s list at both SPC & USF every semester. I have attended college PT since 2008 because that is all that my schedule allows me to do, successfully.

WORK BACKGROUND & RELATED JOB EXPERIENCE: I started babysitting my nephews when I was 11-years-old. When I was 13, I began sitting nights & weekends for different families in my neighborhood (I put a sign in my front yard w/ my number, lol). I had my first FT Nanny job from age 16 – 18 (I obtained my Diploma through night classes), caring for 5 children (ages of children when I started: 6 wks., 20 mths, 5 yrs, 8 yrs, and 11yr old with ADHD). Then I moved back to PA, temporarily, to help one of my sisters with her baby boy (my nephew). While there, I became a CNA and worked the 3rd Shift, so I could help with my nephew during the day. When I returned to FL, I challenged the CNA test, and obtained my certification here in FL. I worked for an agency FT until I became pregnant with my daughter. Then I moved back home with my mom, did PT CNA work (until 2005), and started going to college in 2003. I also provided child care/sitter, house cleaning, and tutor services while going to school FT. I took care of twin toddlers 20 hours a week and the occasional weekend. I was a back-up caregiver for a teenager with Autism, and I also babysat on an as-needed basis for several other families. In early 2006, I switched to FT night and online courses because I got a full time day job, with a Sallie Mae contracted federal loan consolidation company. Within 6 months, I worked my way up to becoming a successful, salaried, Trainer & Manager for all of our offices…2 in FL, and 1 in upstate NY (required some travel). I successfully maintained this school, work, and travel schedule (maintaining a 3.87 GPA) until the business closed down in 2008. Then, I opened a home daycare with a friend. We had 14 kids under our care (which I’ll never do again, lol) when we closed about a year later because the home we were renting went into foreclosure. I then worked as a Nanny until end of 2010. After that, I found an admin position with State Farm, where I worked until the office closed due to the death of the agent. ***I also have held numerous other PT and As-needed nanny/sitter jobs, and worked as an occasional Travel-Nanny, Housesitter, and Housekeeper.

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS: I acquired my nurse's assistant certification in 1999 - which also certified me in CPR, 1st Aid, Heimlich, and more. I obtained my licensed in PA & FL, and worked in the field up (off and on, as needed, through an agency) until 2005. I haven't renewed my CNA licensing since 2005, but the knowledge and training remains. I renew my CPR & 1st Aid through Online courses and Red Cross. Obviously, you can see my Sittercity’s Criminal background check badge, and you can see my driving record in my photos. I am open to random drug testing (at your cost). I am experienced in caring for children and adults with various special needs (I currently care for a non-verbal teen w/ Cerebral Palsy 2-3 overnights a week – in their home). I am available for ALL shifts of daily or hourly as-needed/occasional care (on call), weekly part-time or full-time care (in my home), and/or live-out nanny services (provided in your home).

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Trained in infant massage to help soothe fussy and colicky babies, background in child development, and Intermediate (4 semesters) American Sign Language skills; which included one semester of "Baby Sign Language", a 2 credit hour course = 2 hours a week, for 16 wks (Signing has been proven to help babies communicate before they acquire verbal skills). My daughter also takes ASL, in school. I am also qualified and certified to assist with BREASTFEEDING: Experienced with breastfeeding my own two children, in addition to being a lactation consultant for the La Leche League. I understand the emotional and physical demands, the pain and discomfort, and also the eventual joy and benefits associated with breastfeeding and pumping. I can also assist with latching and milk production; and I know how properly handle, store, and heat breast milk.

**FOR NANNY POSITIONS REQUIRING COOKING and/or CLEANING: I have also cleaned houses, professionally, throughout my life (PT - As needed), and even had a cleaning business of my own at one time (I’ve never had just one “job”. I have always worked 2-3 FT/PT and/or side jobs as they came along). I’ve done several move-out and move in cleanings (including painting walls) for MacDill AFB, for members of the military living on base, when they transfer to new housing or to another base. I have experience cleaning all kinds of residential homes/apts…from homes in “distress” (aka, in desperate need of cleaning), to multi-level immaculate homes; as well as commercial property cleanings. I have my own supplies and products (organic or chemical); including an upright steam carpet cleaner and portable carpet/fabric/spot cleaner (for steam cleaning carpets and furniture/mattresses), steam mop, microfiber mop (same one used in hospitals), and more. I am also a pretty good cook. I make everything from vegetarian meals and smoothies, to 3-meat lasagna ;o)

DOCUMENTATION~~~ Please see MY PHOTOS for my 3-year driving record & copy of my DL (It was cheaper this way)…I blacked some info for MY protection, but left enough for you to compare and see that it is me (please ignore the photo, lol). I will bring the original document and DL to the interview and allow you to view them, and make copies of pertinent documentation. Documents that you will view in my portfolio, during the interview include, but are not limited to: my FL CNA certifications (The PA one was in 1999, and just got lost along the way - position can be verified though), college transcripts, high school diploma, written recommendations from various references (parents of children I cared for, business employers, places I volunteer, and more), resume, proof of vehicle insurance, etc... Sittercity did not provide me a copy of my background check, but you can see the badge on my profile. Also, I drive a fully insured (w/full warranty) Crossover w/3rd row seating, DVD player, and extra outlets for portable devices (aka: a reliable vehicle w/ plenty of room and entertainment for the little ones).
