I am an elementary with special education major at UNL, I will be taking some time off from school this next year due to the birth of my first child. I am looking for a family wanting someone to care for their children with a personal and loving hand, preferably during the day. My ideal situation would be one that would allow me to bring my child. I grew up in Lincoln, went to and graduated from a Christian school and I currently live in Fox Hollow neighborhood (SE Lincoln).

I have loved children since I was a tiny tot myself. My mom often likes to tell people about how when she came to pick me up from school when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade she could never believe how many preschoolers would come up and give me hugs and say good-bye before we could leave. I began watching children occasionally when I was a pre-teen and regularly watching two children when I was 15 years old. As their family grew over the years so did the number of children I become comfortable with. The children's ages ranged from 6 years old to newborn and included one boy with special needs, which started my thoughts about a career in special education. We played outside often on the play set, the children would color pictures while I made dinner, and we also enjoyed watching Disney movies before they went to bed.

I also was a nanny for two children, one boy, 9, and one girl, 7, last year driving them from school to activities and to their home outside of Lincoln. I also watched them on snow days and school holidays. We enjoyed playing outside in the snow or at the park during nice weather. One of their favorite things was my 'Mary Poppins bag' containing crafts and recyclables to be turned into anything they could imagine including trains, instruments, and robots. We also spent time painting pictures, making calendars, and cards for their parents (of course after all of their homework was completed).

I worked last year as a full time para-educator for LPS and enjoyed spending everyday with the children, some days were more stressful than others but each was rewarding to see the growth of my students. With each new job I rediscover the joy of working with children and why I decided to go to school to become a teacher.
