• Where do you live and how long have you lived there?

I live in Glassboro, NJ and have lived there for 20 years. I graduated from Glassboro high school in 2009 and am now in College

• Do you have a full-time job, are you a student or is child care your career?

I am a junior at Rowan University earning a degree in Education and Writing arts. I am also earning certification in ESL and Special Education.

For the past 5 summers I have worked as a camp counselor at Camp Haluwasa and Malaga Camp.

I go to school Mondays – Thursdays.

          `Monday – 6:30pm – 9

          Tuesday/ Thursday – 10:40am – 4:30

          Wednesday – 8am - 5

What made you want to become a child care provider?

I have always worked with children, even when I was younger. I have worked with Special Education children. They have been with me all my life. My cousin is mentally and physically challenged. I have also worked with 2 other mentally challenged kids. For the past 5 years I have been working at our church teaching small groups during the children’s church and then babysitting 7-10 kids every Tuesday night for the past 2 years.

One of the reasons that I love working with kids and am trying to become a teacher is because I love being a part of their lives. Watching them work through problems, teaching them things, watching them create a thinking process and work through everyday

• How many years have you been a child care provider?

• What types of families do you sit for on a regular basis?

I use to babysit 8 girls and 3 boys from 6:30 - 9:00 on Tuesday nights for families at my church. But they recently stopped meeting.

There was a toddler boy and two older boys in 3rd grade. There was also a toddler girl, and 6 older girls - ages ranging from 3rd grade to 5th. All of their personalities range. Some are quiet, some are crazy, some are hard headed...but the nights usually end out good.

• What age ranges have you sat for and which are you most comfortable with?

I am most comfortable with older kids such as toddlers and up. I have worked with infants.

• Do you have any specific sitting philosophy? (Absolutely no sweets? One hour of exercise?)

I am not scared to put in time out, I like being respected (who doesn’t). I believe that respect is one of the most important things that children should learn. If you are polite you can go far in life. When working with kids I tell them that I have 1 rule. Respect - everything that we teach them from listening when someone is talking to not hitting your brother or sister all falls in the area of respect.

• Do you have any favorite games or activities you like to do with kids?

I am open for anything. I love sports, walks, going to the park, board games, movies, arts and crafts, ect….
