I have had a great deal of experience with children through baby-sitting. Many of these experiences served to enhance my understanding of the rearing of children: the joy of finding what is unique in that child, how best to have them engaged in activities, and when needed the proper way to deal with discipline in a positive manner and showing that you still care. I began when I was eleven to baby-sit for many family and families from my church. I have experience with children 1-12 years of age. I attained my bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Louisville. During that time, I baby-sat for a family of five children between the ages of 9 months to eleven years for five years. I enjoyed and loved each child individually and loved sharing experiences with them including teaching and learning from the children. The family and I are still very close, and for that friendship I am dearly grateful.

I have a graduate degree in art from the New York Academy of Art. I understand the importance that art can play in a child’s development. I enjoy teaching them in many mediums, allowing for the best self-expression. My art is mainly focused on world literature particularly folklore and fairytales. I feel that literature greatly enhances the child’s development. As I have a passion for education, and a love for children, I see the importance of instilling a love of learning in the human heart from a young age. I enjoy creating an atmosphere where children can feel the joy of life and learning. I always love incorporating activities into my baby-sitting time with children that would instill in them a love to learn. A few of the activities I enjoy doing with children are reading, painting and drawing, spending time in nature, cooking, dancing, and listening to and teaching them about music. I am proficient with the piano and have the ability of teaching children this instrument. As an athlete I trained and competed in several sports up into High School. Some I did as intramural sports in college. I have experience with basketball, soccer, and track. Exercise is key to a healthy body. I have found that such activities often create opportunities for moments of spontaneous teaching about the specific subject as well as principles of good character and a healthy mind.

I live in New York City. I have been CPR certified and will update the certification. I have experience working with children who have allergies. I am also experienced working with families with pets. With my experience, education, and skills, I have the confidence and excitement necessary to continue as a full-time or part-time nanny. I look forward to finding a family where I can be a partner in creating a happy and fulfilling childhood.
