My first experience with being a fulltime nanny was the summer right after I graduated. I interviewed for a job taking care of a preemie baby named Nicolas born at 1 pound 6oz. He was so small and delicate. I was scared just to hold him but it was a feeling that I will never forget! In time he became stronger and more aware of his surroundings every day. I became extremely attached to him!!! I worked from 7am to 5 or 6pm five days a week sometimes on weekends so that mommy and daddy could spend time together. My job included feedings, teaching age appropriate life skills like tummy time hand and eye coordination putting weight on his legs to start walking etc. Also I did light housework vacuuming, dusting, laundry, dishes and picking up after the baby. This family will remain in my heart always we had a special contention that has made an imprint upon my life and no matter where my life has taken me we have remained friends to this day. One of my biggest families was the Sabharwal family they had four children Veraly age seven, Vehan age three, Ninena age two, Avonie a new born. Worked stated at 6:30am end time 6pm or later. I worked Monday-Friday and on call during the weekends plus date nights as needed. Mornings start off with getting Veraly up and ready for the bus making breakfast and packing book bag and lunch. Also getting Vehan up and ready for the bus. After the two kids were gone I would get the two little ones up and ready have them eat breakfast and off to mommy and me or the library or recreation center. We always had a lot to do before we had to pick Vehan up from school at 12:30pm. My days were always jam packed with things to do. I also took care of any house work that needed to be done that day. I had a special bond with all four kids and we made some wonderful memories together. My last job before I had my own child was taking care of twin girls Kelso and Keridwyn. I was there to help mommy with the girls three times a week from 7am to 3pm. I fed, dressed, and played with the girls while mom worked from home or caught up on house work. If there was anything to get done while the girls took their afternoon nap I would ask if there was anything she needed help with. It was always fun trying to keep these two very different girls entertained. One girl loved to be held and the other one was adventurous. I loved multi-tasking between the two and exploring the world together. I will always remain close to this family and to this day I still stay in contact with them.
My husband and I had the pleasure of having Alicia work for us watching our twin girls between the ages of 3 to 9 months, and we can recommend her without hesitation. While with us, I was often working from home and could observe Alicia interacting with the girls. She is a natural caregiver, mature beyond her years, who loved my children as if they were her own. If the girls were awake, she was interacting with them. They were always her top priority. If they were asleep, she would help out by doing household tasks without being asked. On a number of occasions I returned home to a clean kitchen and living room, as the girls were napping and Alicia said she likes to keep busy. I also never had to worry about Alicia being pre-occupied with texting or her cell phone, unlike many of the young women I’ve employed since her. Her attention was always on my daughters who loved her, as did my son who she also watched on occasion. Alicia became a part of our family and to this day we stay in contact even though she is no longer in the area. She is an exceptional person and caregiver. Anyone would be lucky to have her watch their children. - Lisa V.
