--I have been working as a nanny since 1993 and have experience working for several families with twins and families who struggled with ADD/ADHD, asthma, eczema and food allergies. Caring for children is not just something I enjoy, I also believe it to be my life's calling. I have been caring for children since I was a child myself, at 10 years of age, and could often be found entertaining them on horseback or loaded up on my pony cart.
I am also a mother of five.....Two of my children have already left home and the other three are in grade school. When not in school, they spend time with family and friends while I am at work. My children only accompany me on the job occasionally when invited.
--Additionally, I enjoyed teaching 8 years of Sunday School and Vacation Bible School camps at a local Christian Church in Dublin, Ohio. Currently I attend The Vineyard on Cooper Road where I enjoy ministering to children and teens in a different capacity by providing them and their families transportation to services, activities and events. Although I am a Christian, I have a history of working well with many families of diverse faith.
--I enjoy being active and taking children on outings. Also willing to implement arts & crafts and learning activities with children at home (provided by the client) but prefer to work with families who appreciate the benefits of fostering a child's social and academic needs through preschool or other community activities as well. Not interested in working positions that keep the children and me on "house arrest," however, outings and activities in a day are to be persued with proper respect given to the need for balanced meal times and rest for all ages.
I have often been called on to help school age children with their homework. Whenever possible, I will work to provide an atmosphere appropriate for your child’s learning time and guide them through personal disciplines necessary to independently complete their homework tasks. However, I am not interested in working positions that would require me to tutor them in their subject matters nor am I interested in helping with any home school arrangements. If your child is struggling in their subject matters, there needs to be a closer examination of their teacher’s communication/teaching methods and the child's study habits or possible limitations. Work and scores of their own will be an important reflection of both.
--Complete client history with additional experiences can be provided at the time of a personal interview. Out of respect for their privacy, I do not provide my client's personal information over the internet -- Will renew CPR/First Aide Certifications as needed and update FBI/BCI Background Checks through local law enforcement with each new hire (Will not provide my personal information for background checks via internet services).
THE GRID FOR SITTER CITY WOULD NOT SAVE MY AVAILABILTY INFORMATION ACCURATELY -- TO BE MORE SPECIFIC:
I am interested in full time positions with a preference of working hours that fall between 800 AM and 530 PM, Monday through Friday - However, other times and days are certainly negotiable. There are seasons of change in my profession as a nanny so my available start date has variables and my ability to take any position depends on negotiated needs of both parties. Long term commitments are contingent upon revised agreements to any unknown work changes or economics of both parties --Please call for details.
Sitter City asks that we providers not respond to requests if we cannot truly meet the expectations of the client's offer - I have similar expectations of clients seeking my services. If you are not truly offering a job, please do not contact me for services. I have been called into too many personal interviews with the "matter of fact we are sure we want you, love your profile and we like the rate you offer" that end their interview with "we are still tossing numbers around to see if we can afford to do this." It costs me precious time and money to attend interviews so please decide in our initial email or phone interview if you can at least afford my services before calling me in to negotiate final terms.
TO BE MORE CLEAR ABOUT MY PAY EXPECTATIONS, HERE IS A GENERAL LIST OF PAY RANGES I WORK UNDER:
$325+ @ 3 days of service 8-10 hour days
$350+ @ 4 days of service 8-10 hour days
$400+ @ 5 days of service 40-45 hours per week
$425+ @ 5 days of service 45-50 hours per week
*Not interested in work at less than $325 weekly - Full time rates posted are for hours averaging from 30/35 to 45/50 - Any hours beyond 45/50 needs to be given to a secondary childcare provider. Rates and availability for lesser hours are posted under my babysitting profile.
**My pay is for WEEKLY RATES (not hourly) with SET DAYS and TIME RANGES - Not required to work comp days to "pay you back" for hours or days you may cancel on me or for times you bring me in late or send me home early.
**I expect a minimum of 5 major holidays off with pay - If I request extra time off I am willing to take it without pay or work comp times to earn it back.
**Rates are also based on respect given, or not given, to the need for breaks and lunch hours worked into the day
**Often I am asked how much I charge per child. My rates are the same for any number of children I agree to care for. You have called on my services as a working nanny in your home and I expect to be paid a rate that compensates me well for my time, experience and any expenses incurred as an independent contractor while providing you this "at your door service" (i.e. Transportation, Recreation, Internet/Phone, etc.). Numbers of children add only a small fraction to these figures. This is NOT a home daycare arrangement where I can work with several families to increase or decrease the number of children I care for to achieve any needed income amount.
Thank you for your consideration and please review the contents of my resume copied and pasted below along with the notations that follow:

** SETTING BOUNDARIES WITH POTENTIAL NANNY CLIENTS **
CARING FOR INFANT, TODDLER AND PRESCHOOL AGE CHILDREN:
Potential nanny clients often ask me about my cleaning services and how I will relate such skills on the job for them. As a nanny, the children and I clean the messes we make and I expect the same from the families I serve during the times I am not there. I do not perform deep cleaning tasks or pick up after your "night before" messes. If I were to offer such services, I would do so outside of established childcare times under a different pay arrangement. However, at this time I am not interested in a second job as a housekeeper or full time maid. All of the clients I have served picked up after themselves and took care of their deep cleaning needs working together as a family or they hired a housecleaning crew weekly, biweekly or monthly depending on their own personal budget. High traffic cleaning in areas of the home where the children and I frequent while I am there is negotiable. Pets in the home affect such negotiations. When young children are napping, older children are having quiet time or attending preschool, I take the opportunity to enjoy a respectful lunch hour and overdue break time rolled into one. Meeting my own basic needs in a day affords me the focus and energy to take care of your child's needs more effectively. If you have to ask "What will you be doing when the children are napping or in quiet time?" or you disrespectfully expect me to do chores during this precious time of sabbatical, please do not bother me with a response to my services.
CARING FOR SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN:
It has become a growing trend these days for clients to seek split shift child care for their school age children that need before and after school care. In an effort to offer full time employment to one person the clients often ask the nanny to prep dinners or fulfill housecleaning duties while the children are in school…..The working standards remain the same for me. The times your children are in school holds little impact on my time and ability to get such requests done. I will be taking my scheduled lunch hour and breaks during these times and I will only negotiate light housekeeping duties, not deep cleaning tasks. As for dinners, I will only prep light meal menus planned by you ahead of time. Willing to shop weekly for needed items you have already prepared a list for. I will not spend my time and energy guessing you on dinner issues and the stocking needs of your pantry and fridge.
– Let me interject here again, I am seeking/applying for a childcare position, not full time cook/housekeeper/maid position on top of my childcare expectations. I will work with your family in the same respect as if they were my own and I will teach your children independent living skills with proper respects given to age appropriate grooming and chores (inclusive of picking up and cleaning up after oneself). I prefer to work with parents that follow through with the same expectations for their children as well as for themselves during the times I am not there.
IN SUMMARY:
I have no interest in positions that expect me to wear "too many hats" in a short day like the unappreciated house wife.....I say this as an experienced mother of five, professional cleaner and nanny/childcare provider of more than 20 years+
I have been blessed since 1993 to work with loving, respectful clients that were already matured or schooled in these manners through common sense or past mistakes they have owned. I am continuing to seek future clients of the same respect. Unfortunately they are few and far between but I will remain avid in my search.
I do not sit idle while waiting for such. I often take temp/short term nanny positions or perform other type work while searching for another long term "right fit" – Therefore, my start date with anyone is contingent upon proper notice given to any other commitment I may be in at the time of your need for me.
On average, I have an easy highway commute to working positions 25-45 miles away. Nannies seldom live in the neighborhoods they serve due to realistic economic differences between them and their clients. My reliability is high and I go above and beyond to serve my clients, giving reasonable notice for time off whenever possible and my references reflect such. However, I will not be stressed by anyone who is over demanding in a manner where they want services performed by humans without possible human factors. I expect any client I serve to have a personal backup plan if I were to need time off or if any unusual circumstances were to occur that would make it difficult for me to come in to work with short notice.
MEMO:
Sittercity has 2 response buttons - a "no thanks" that gives you an auto impersonal message - and an “I'm available” with a checked box that fully agrees to all job conditions posted. I feel that it is a wrong feature that leaves no room for negotiations. Not all conditions can be covered in a post by either party. Conversations are vital to seeking any arrangement. To respectfully give clients a more personal response, I will choose to by-pass such features and contact you either way. If my doing so would prove to be offensive to you, I can say now, we will not likely be a good fit.
I joined this site and many others to connect directly with the parents in my search. Noticeably nanny agencies have been working sittercity to fish for nannies. Having no interest in working with third parties that speak for me or the searching parents, I would like to state clearly that I am not interested and will report any suspicion of an agency’s post to sittercity as spam.
