Having been raised in a home that valued interaction between parents and children, I see the importance in fostering that communication. I feel it is important to meet each child where he is, and to help him grow and mature within his emotional state. With compassion, and a no-nonsense attitude, I feel that there is plenty of room for youthful fun and adventure while still maintaining structure and respect for authority. I respect children I work with, and I expect them to respect me in return. When faced with a difficult situation, I am able to remain calm and see the whole situation. I am able to recognize my own faults, and hope to help each child see his own faults in a situation as well. Community and respect are important, but it is my desire to foster such values in a fun, exciting, and loving atmosphere. I have worked with children and their parents in their home one-on-one and in larger, childcare settings, and this approach has worked well in the past.
I was raised in a family with three brothers & both of my parents, and understand the importance of communication and respect in any home. My childcare experience dates back to watching my younger brothers when I was 11, and starting to babysit other families at age 13. I am a Christian, and I strive to implement these values into my approach of childcare, and to people in general. After completing my bachelor's degree in Portland, OR, I moved home to southern CA for a year in order to save money for grad school.  I have now moved to Dallas, TX, to work on my master's degree at Dallas Theological Seminary.  I have a well-rounded education, and have studied in Europe prior to my university in OR. My own interests are varied, ranging from photography, writing, traveling, hiking, horse-back riding, literature, music, and more. My relationship both with my own parents and parents I have worked for has always been strong, and I love spending time with new families.
