I have been a Nanny for 20+ years.  I have been in my present position for 14.5 years, I began when my charge was 27 days old and will be leaving as he enters High School at the end of August.  It's certainly going to be a period of change for me!

I was born in England and my family moved to South Africa when I was eight.  I completed all of my schooling in South Africa including a degree in English Literature.  I came over to the US in 1990 as an Au Pair with a friend to the Boston, Ma area and never left.  What started out as just a temporary gig has turned into a 20 year career in childcare.  I joined the Professional Nanny family in Boston and went to Nanny School and learned alot about children and myself.  I was a live in Nanny whilst living there, the ages of the children ranged from newborn to 13 years old.  In my last job there, I worked part time for the family and part time for the agency placing and counceling Nannies.  I also met my future husband who lived in Virginia Beach.  I began exploring job options in the area and filled out applications with agencies in the area and was lucky enough to meet up with my current family.  Fourteen plus years later, and a child of my own, we are still together but, at the end of the road as my charge enters high school in the fall and will no longer need his Nanny.

 * 2012 update - presently taking care of a 10 month old, family is relocating in 2 months so I am, unfortunately, back on the market.  Looking for a family to take care of asap!
