Sittercity.com Named in Inc. Magazine's 500 Fastest-Growing Private Companies
CHICAGO, August 18, 2009 – Sittercity.com, the nation’s largest and most trusted online source for babysitters, nannies, pet care, senior care, home care and tutoring, was just named in Inc. Magazine’s top 500 fastest growing private companies. With a three-year sales growth of over 695 percent, Sittercity.com was ranked 358th on the prestigious list and 29th in the consumer products and services category. The company was also featured in Inc.com as “The Best of the Websites.”
“This is the second consecutive year Sittercity.com has made the Inc. 500 list,” said Genevieve Thiers, founder and CEO of Sittercity.com. “It is exciting to be in the company of so many forward-thinking, entrepreneurial organizations. It’s a true testament to our innovative strategies, commitment to our customers and the dedication of our talented team of professionals. Just as we created the on-line care industry with vision and innovation, Sittercity.com is working on new initiatives that will continue to revolutionize the way people find care.”
Today Sittercity.com has more than a million caregiver profiles across the nation and continues to grow with nearly 2,000 caregivers joining the site every day. In addition, job postings on the site have increased 150 percent over this time last year – translating to a new job posted to the site every five minutes.
“If you want to know which companies are going to change the world, look at the Inc. 500,” said Inc. editor Jane Berentson. “These are the most dynamic, fast-growth companies in the nation, the ones finding innovative solutions to problems, creating smart systems, and inventing products we soon discover we can’t live without. The Inc. 500 list is Inc. magazine’s tribute to American business ingenuity and ambition.”
The 2009 Inc 500, unveiled in the September issue of Inc. magazine and on Inc.com, reported aggregate revenue of $18.4 billion – up significantly from last year’s $13.7 billion – and a median three-year growth rate of 880.5 percent. The companies on this year’s list are also responsible for creating more than 55,000 jobs since their founding; making the Inc. 500 perhaps the best example of the impact private, fast-growing companies can have on the overall U.S. economy.
