In the interest of full disclosure, I should mention that I've used Sittercity.com to find a babysitter. I didn't know, however, that I could also use the service to find an eldercare provider, a pet walker, a tutor, or a house sitter. Employees at Pitney Bowes, meanwhile, are well aware.

Since November, the Stamford, Connecticut, company has offered the Sittercity corporate program to all its employees -- and according to Melissa Lukas, a program coordinator in the Total Rewards Department at Pitney Bowes, it's been key in helping workers find better work-life balance: "If employees can find a babysitter, a companion for an elderly relative, a tutor for their kids, a house cleaner, and a dog walker all in one place, they are more productive in their work as they are not distracted by caregiver worries, and they are more engaged as they feel their employer cares about them."
