Sittercity Announces Winners of First Annual Best of the Buzz Competition at Kellogg

(Chicago, Ill.) - Sittercity, the country's largest online parent-babysitter matching service today announced the winners of a 24-hour marketing competition amongst Kellogg 2005 MBA students.

Sittercity's Best of the Buzz Challenge at Kellogg took place on January 21-22, 2005. On Friday night at 6pm, registered teams of two to three competitors assembled for a briefing about Sittercity's team, model and history. The challenge was then presented: the team that can create and present the most innovative buzz marketing campaign, event or stunt for Sittercity's national launch will be issued the top prize of $1,000.

"We were thrilled to meet so many talented individuals," said Genevieve Thiers, founder and CEO of Sittercity. "This first-time competition garnered many creative ideas, and we hope to make this an annual event."

Teams were allowed to work on their ideas until 6pm on Saturday, when everyone including the judges reassembled to see each team's presentation. Entries were judged by the following criteria: originality, feasibility, commercial potential, completeness and presentation. The panel of judges for the competition included: Genevieve Thiers, CEO of Sittercity; Deborah Bukovy, Director of Marketing for Sittercity; Dan Ratner, Small Business Advisor to Sittercity, and Susan Weiss, principal of public relations agency, SWPR.



Best of the Buzz
First prize of $1,000 and a plaque was awarded to the "Adventures in Babysitting" team John Stoops and Katie Gerdes;

Second prize of $500 and a plaque was awarded to the "Lucky Ladies" team of Katie Streit, Jessica Nam Kim and Tamara Prather;

Third place prize of $100 and a plaque was awarded to Daniel Speckman and Leonardo Basterra who will donate their winnings to the Asia Tsunami Relief effort.
