Sittercity Brings Boston's College Babysitters and Parents Together

Located in their local Career Services Center, this binder has listings from parents in nearby areas that need sitters. However, this binder is updated infrequently, hard to get to and often hard to read as well. Are college sitters complaining anymore? No. Since September 2001, over 1,500 of them have chosen instead to join Sittercity.com, Boston's first free option for college babysitters.
Bringing together college students who need extra income and parents who need help, Sittercity.com is a free service for college babysitters in Boston, and can be accessed 24-hours a day. Want to be seen by parents? Create a profile. Sitter profiles allow parents to see sitter locations, references, transportation preferences, rates, contact details and more. Parents can post jobs for sitters or search profiles. Sitters are emailed an average of three job postings daily, and they are also able to cruise the site looking for parents that need help during the school year and summer.
"I was in Boston for New Year's Eve in 2001, since I am a transfer student from England," states site member Cara Lipiss, from Harvard. "I was able to get over $200 babysitting on New Year's for a local Boston family. On average, during the school year, I have five families that I sit for through the site."
