Sittercity.com CEO Speaks to Northwestern Law Students
Genevieve Thiers Shares Her Experience Founding New Tech Category with Northwestern Entrepreneurship Law ClassCHICAGO, September 11, 2009 --- Genevieve Thiers, founder and CEO of Sittercity.com, and Dan Ratner, Sittercity.com CTO, will be members of a panel discussing entrepreneurship and venture capital at University of Illinois Venture Course, on Friday, September 11th. Thiers used decades of babysitting expertise to revolutionize the in-home care industry. The two will talk about how they not only started a successful business, but also what became a multi-million dollar online in-home caregiving industry. They will also discuss how they used a profitable business to obtain equity financing to fund further growth. Ratner will also personally mentor a group of eight students through projects this semester.
Thiers has also been a guest speaker and teacher at Harvard Business School, the Northwestern University’s Law School and Kellogg School of Business and, Babson College, the University of Chicago, Loyola University and Columbia College in Chicago, the national CEO convention, the Heartland Institute, and hundreds of other conventions and events across the country.
