Sesame Workshop Partners with Sittercity.com to Provide Caregiving Resources to Employees
Thursday, April 3, 2008FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Chicago, Ill.) - Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organization behind Sesame Street, just found a way to give all their new parents a helping hand during their recent baby boom, as well as other employees who are desperate to find extra help while they're at work. How? By putting babysitters, nannies, petsitters, senior care providers, housesitters and tutors -- thousands of each -- right at their employees' fingertips, literally.
Sesame Workshop joined Sittercity's Corporate Program, which gives its employees instant access to more than 12,000 local babysitters, nannies, petsitters, senior care providers, housesitters and tutors through Sittercity.com's database of New York City sitters, as well as hundreds of thousands of sitters nationwide. Profiles of sitters contain references, photos, background checks, feedback from parents, calendars, contact information, videos and more than 40 different pieces of criteria on each caregiver.
"We're thinking of it like a resource and referral program -- squared," states Sesame Workshop's Vice President of HR, Patricia Callahan. "It's incredibly exciting. I think that a lot of companies say that they do things to help parents that are having trouble getting to work because their pet is sick, their child has a snow day or their elderly parent needs to get to the doctor. We're taking action by giving our employees instant access to almost every type of in-home care provider in New York City. It's a real solution, and I think that the human resources world has lacked that for some time."
Sittercity's Corporate Program, now going into its third year, has gained incredible popularity. In addition to their corporate program, which includes a bulk membership to Sittercity.com and a uniquely banded website portal for the company they are serving, they also offer SpeedSittingĀ® events to corporations, run in a "speed date" format, to connect company employees with local care providers.
