Roberta S. Senior Care in Austin, TX 78704. Looking for work as a senior care companion.

I just recently moved to Houston after doing fulltime, volunteer missionary work abroad for the last 39 years, mostly in South America and more recently in Chile, where I helped with relief work for the people who suffered from the  earthquake and tsunami that occurred in February of this year.

Right now I am returning to the U.S. to live. A few months ago I saw an ad for non-medical caregivers and thought that it was something I would like to do and feel capable of doing well. Since visiting my step-mom for the past five years and seeing her needs, it made me want to reach out and help older people. She is 94 and lives in a senior retirement center in Tucson, so I am familiar with seniors and their needs. She suffers from dementia and short-term memory loss, but really enjoys talking about her childhood and her father, etc.

I feel that I could be a help to people by performing simple tasks for them and listening to them, etc. I also worked in a State Hospital for one summer when I was young and helped care for some patients who were older and had physical illnesses as well and did fine in caring for them.
