I have worked with seniors in multiple households from the time I was 19 as a caregiver. Two of them have had emotional disabilities that just needed to be kept busy being brought out into the community and light housekeeping and errands, and playing games and watching movies. The elderly woman I took care of needed meds distributed at times, she has Alzheimers and could be ornery, she needed help eating, and toileting. She would need help walking wherever she needed to go. I cannot post a picture do to confidentiality. I also briefly worked at a senior home for two months that is where I was certified to give insulin shots and run a med cart. I went to the managers on several cases of elderly abuse but they told me to ignore it. Finally, after a particular bad night I quit and reported them to the state. The state investigated but did not find signs of abuse which I can not figure out. Out of ten to twelve complaints I gave them with details. Only four or five people are still alive from that list.

I want to use my abilities and knowledge for helping others who are less fortunate than me or who have disabilities on my own or as a member of a team. My long-term goal is to work in an organization where I can use the knowledge I have learned to be a voice for others that cannot speak for themselves. I would love to work with the children and the elderly. I’m continuing my study of the brain because it fascinates me and I want to know about every aspect of it. Mostly what makes people tick, and why they do the things they do.
