Hi Parents!

Hey Parents! My name is Erin O'Malley and I'm from Milton, MA. I'm one of six children in my family and since I can remember I've been caring for kids. I started out helping my older sister babysit after school and then began taking on jobs of my own. I'm a Junior at Providence College and I'm studying social entrepreneurship concentrating in management and marketing. I love kids and have never ever found babysitting/nannying to be work or a chore because I just love interacting and playing with the children I watch, who over the past five years have become like my little brothers and sisters.

     For my senior volunteer project at my high school I worked at a day care center for inner city children, with a variety of behavioral and emotional problems. It was great experience getting to deal with children that had previously been out of my comfort zone and I learned a lot about dealing with crisis situations. 

I'm certified in CPR, first aid and Lifeguarding and have taught swimming lessons starting at level one with toddlers up to level 6 with adolescent and junior lifeguards. Over the past six years I've spent the school year working as a swim teacher, lifeguard, and babysitter and summers as a camp counselor, lifeguard for the town pool and swim teacher. I've spent the past two summers and winter breaks as a full time nanny for an incredible family with four kids, the youngest starting at seven weeks. 

I spent the last year volunteering for an non-profit organization running a children's home and primary school in a rural village in Kenya. It was the most incredible experience of my life and I would give anything to get my degree and head back. I lived in the home with the children and spent my time working with them and teaching creative arts and creative writing classes in the primary school. 

As I head back to school next semester, I've sadly found the commute back and forth from Boston to Providence to be too much for day to day babysitting but would love to get to know a new family around Providence looking for a part time sitter or tutor. I have had several years tutoring a variety of subjects at both high school and college level, as well as teaching and tutoring elementary school level.
