What began as an after-school babysitting job in college turned into a part-time tutoring career. I began with Elementary students, and was recommended to other parents and associates.
I developed a tremendous passion for teaching during this early stage in my career, and it has never waned. I derive immense satisfaction from witnessing that "aha!" moment that eventually gets triggered when things are explained from a different point of view.
At 19, I suspected that one of my students was dyslexic...and so I did what made sense at the time. I did things differnetly: we passed a ball back and forth while we spelled words, for example. We did things orally instead of working on a 100% visual basis.
A few years later, I taught at an Elementary School and worked with under-developed students, and shortly after that I worked in a boarding school as a private tutor for dyslexic students, all of whom were tutored 1-1, rather than in a classroom.
I later worked in a boarding school, whereupon I tutored many, many students in a ll areas of English and college essays.
I now work as a professional writer/editor, graphic designer, and web designer (I'm also able to teach photoshop and web design, if need be!). My clients largely include undergraduate and graduate college students, university research departments, and college hopefuls.
I look forward to the challenge of carving out a unique method of learning for your child. Most people find me very inviting and engaging, and I am always in search of the most creative possible approaches. I was a different kind of student and learner myself, so I fully appreciate and identify with various ways of understanding and engaging with the given material.
