I have received above average grades throughout my schooling career. I just completed my first year at West Virginia University, and I am planning on obtaining my Bachelor of Arts degree in a double major of Psychology and Spanish. I am not fluent in Spanish yet, but I understand it when it is spoken or written and only need to expand in vocabulary. I can also speak and write intermediately in Spanish.

In the 2010-2011 school year, I trained to be a tutor at the WVU Writing Center. I will be starting as a paid tutor there in the 2011-2012 school year, but have tutored since the beginning of 2011. At the WVU Writing Center, I tutored students in writing papers, formulating ideas, grammar, sentence structure and other technicalities of English, and I also helped students who were learning English as a second language to become better at writing English.
I will be a live-in Residence Hall Tutor for the 2011-2012 school year and hopefully beyond. This requires me to obtain an A in all subjects I am to be tutoring and to have a certain number of tutoring hours per week.

I have a 5 year old little sister with whom I have a very close relationship. I play and interact with her often and feel comfortable interacting with other children around her age. I often engage in learning games, such as memory, number, word, reading, and spelling games, with her.

I volunteered in the Parent-Child Interaction Training Lab at WVU, where I worked with children ages 7 and 8. I engaged in conversation and games with them during our sessions together and talked to them about social issues, such as sharing, taking turns, and being bossy. Thus, I am also comfortable dealing with children around this age range.

As a tutor, I am comfortable helping children study for tests, clarify material, learn new material, and review. I am able to assist children who are learning basic subjects, such as in elementary school, but I am also able to help middle school and high school aged children in advanced general subjects as well as computer skills. At the college level, I am able to tutor in Psychology, introductory Biology, English, and History. I can also tutor Spanish.
