Working with children seems to come naturally to me. I grew up with four younger siblings, have volunteered in various positions of child care, and worked in jobs that ensured quality supervision of children. I am also currently looking into schooling to continue my education for a degree in Special Education and Counseling. Some of my volunteer work includes: -Teaching Sunday School for children between the ages of 3 years old and third graders. -Nursery. -Vacation Bible School. -Youth Evangelism Conferences. -Children's Choir. -Assisting with plays/dramas/acting. -Volunteering with groups of children to sort and stock food at the Food Bank-showing children how they can be a part of assisting others in the community. Previous job experience includes: -Individual Service Provider-Position with PCHS for working with children diagnosed with Severe Emotional Trauma in a school-based setting to assist in the development of appropriate social interactions and coping skills. I pretaught the Read more classroom expectations, assessed the children's needs for a successful day at school, assisted them in remembering calming techniques, helped them in understanding their schoolwork, and utilized positive reinforcement when they made positive choices, and remained consistent with consequences when negative choices were made. I also lead group studies and activities so that they had the interaction and support of each other along with lessons pertaining to their needs, actions, behavior, and expectations. -Kids' Club Supervisor-Overseer of the childrens' area of the gym previously known as the Peninsula Athletic Club (now PACFitness 24/7). I trained employees and coordinated fun activities for children between the ages of 6 weeks old to 12 years old. I took care of groups of children up to 15 at a time. We were able to ensure a fun, safe, and encouraging atmosphere. I made sure that we were involved in activities with the children (i.e.: Coloring with them, playing Ring-Around-the-Rosie together) instead of just watching them to see that they were safe. -Babysitting-I have babysat for various families within my neighborhood for up to 12 hours on some occassions and overnight on others. Parents know they can trust me to keep their homes and children safe, fun with coordinated play time, and consistent with expectations (chores, time outs, bed-time, etc).
