Ashlynn reached out to us to be a sitter for my 3 children. I booked her last minute (Friday for a Saturday evening date). My husband made a 9pm dinner reservation for a steakhouse downtown. She let me know that she had another sitting job from 7am-7pm but she was ok with watching our kids afterward. I told her we would do a late dinner and be home by 11:00-midnight but it would also be easy for her since dinner and baths would be done and my kids would be sleeping for the majority of the time she was here. I touched base with her at 5pm on Saturday to make sure we were still good and she texted me letting me know she would need to stay a little later for her other job. I told her our dinner reservation was for 9pm. Ashlynn then told me she was "skeptical" of us because we had not asked her for references or gotten to know her before having her babysit for us. Normally I do ask for references but it was last minute and I assumed since she had a profile on sittercity and current babysitting jobs, that she was a trustworthy individual. I understand it is her prerogative to decline her services as she pleases but it was not nice that she agreed to sit for us and then back out last minute. My husband and I were REALLY looking forward to a few hours out to have a nice dinner without our kids. We just sold our house in CO and are starting a new build in Hampton Cove, AL so we just wanted to celebrate.
