I am a caring, compassionate mature aged woman. I'm retired from the U.S. Army. As I am retired, I have the ability to be flexible. My experience with childcare comes from raising my own son who is 27 years old. I've recently returned to the US after living in Australia for 10 years. After retiring from the military in 2004, I relocated with my husband to Australia. I began working in the pathology industry as a phlebotomist. The job included collecting blood, and other pathology samples from children. I had to build rapport and trust with children to successfully accomplish my tasks. In 2009, I changed career paths and was accepted into Queensland Police Academy. I successfully completed the 7 month training and was placed at a busy police station located near a large shopping mall. Some of my duties included patrols through the mall and on occasions, dealing with Read more juveniles who had been caught shoplifting or were engaging in general antisocial behavior. I was required to balance tolerance and compassion with enforcing rules. I left the Police job in mid-2013 to prepare to return to the US. I have not worked since I returned to the US in January 2014. I am looking for employment that will be enjoyable, rewarding, and allows me to be in an environment where I can enjoy doing what I do best which is nurturing, logical reasoning, being creative, and being helpful. I enjoy assisting with children, pets, and elder care. Cooking meals is not a problem. I'm a good cook and I try to practice clean, healthy eating. Light cleaning and laundry is no problem. I love spending time with children enjoying appropriate aged crafts, discussing other cultures, geography, science, art, and trivia in general e.g. foods, animals, plants, bugs, snakes, spiders and all things that strike children's curiosity. I enjoy reading to others. I like telling stories, or sitting quietly and just being together. I understand the importance of acceptance, tolerance, and teaching children self respect which eventually leads to self discipline. By nature, I'm positive and uplifting. I'm still in pretty good shape so moderate physical activities are no problem. I will respect and adhere to parents' values and limitations. I understand and respect boundaries. I would really love the opportunity to work with children. I have time to dedicate my care and energy to children whose parents are time and energy poor.
