I originally started out babysitting and watching my little sister and kids in the neighborhood and loved it. When I was 17, I got a job as a Child Care teacher at Mountainside Fitness. Working in child care requires me to be able to be able to watch multiple children in the center. We allow ages from birth to 12, so the experience levels need to be varied. At Mountainside, we are a 10 to 1 ratio, which means for every teacher, they should be able to watch 10 kids. Other duties include supervising and monitoring the safety of children in their care, change the diapers of infants and toddlers, organize activities to ensure that children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime, watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring the problems to the attention of parents, and keep records of children’s progress, routines, and Read more interest. Being employed in child care allows for me to work on my communication, decision-making skills, patience and physical stamina. I am also CPR and First Aid certified.
