Dear Parents, I am a part- time student studying Peace, Conflict Studies and Nonviolence at the University of California, Berkeley. My childcare experience consists of fourteen years of attached parenting, raising my own two children within the gentle Waldorf model, one year of paid experience as a teacher's aide at the Alameda Head Start Program, six months volunteer work at the Alameda Midway Shelter and in the East Bay Waldorf kindergarten classroom. This past year I have provided in- home support for a family with a nursing infant. My duties included: feeding, changing and washing cloth diapers; wearing baby in a Storchenwiege wrap while going on nature hikes; singing and rocking baby to sleep. Over the past six years I have also provided on- call care for a family with two children, ages 4 and 6 years old, where my duties have included: bathing and dressing children, dropping off and Read more picking up from day care/school, cooking, cleaning, putting children to sleep, playing games, planning daily activities such as: coloring with beeswax crayons, painting with watercolors, baking fresh bread, hiking and venturing out in the surrounding environment- visiting local landscapes, such as, farms, beaches, parks, museums, and restaurants. My experience also includes assisting older children, ages 8- 14, with homework, coordinating and sharing in outdoor adventures-biking, hiking, kayaking, river rafting, museums, and camping, planning and preparing natural, organic, wholesome, nutritious meals as well as baking goodies from scratch- my speciality is organic and gluten- free everything! Spending time with children warms my heart! I've never experienced anything so fulfilling or engaging as the company of a child.
